🐙 Welcome to the Octotokes Reef!

Octotokes Reef is a green-chip NFT collection consisting of 5,000 unique, hand-drawn NFT’s, launched in April 2022 on the Ethereum blockchain.

20% of public mint sales and 3% of secondary sales are donated to #TeamSeas in support of Ocean Conservancy. We’re also building an underwater utopia – where our holders, ‘Tokers’, communicate, play, and earn – all while contributing to the public good! The Octotokes Team is doxxed and come from professional backgrounds.

In this litepaper we provide an overview into the Octotokes Reef NFT project – the why and how.

Our Mission

The Octotokes Reef project operates around the value of giving back – to our environment and to our community. A rising tide lifts all boats. Our mission is to support ocean conservation alongside coordination of a thriving NFT community.

In addition to donating to #TeamSeas we give back generously to our NFT holders. Our Roadmap 2.0 is active as of May 2022 and includes holder giveaways like Ethereum and Polygon NFTs, ETH, hardware wallets, and merch. Our community members are also able to use our Discord participation rewards system to make individual donations to #TeamSeas.

We’re thrilled that Ethereum was able to transition so successfully to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism! 🌱

The idea for the Octotokes project developed from a shared appreciation for the ocean and sea life – and a desire to create an NFT collection that would support a like-minded community helping create the positive change that we want to see.

#TeamSeas

Team Octotokes has selected #TeamSeas as the charity to which we’ll be donating 20% of public mint sales and 3% of secondary sales. For ocean health, the plastic pollution problem is so big that no individual or single solution will fix it at once. But we’ve got to start somewhere. #TeamSeas began as a global campaign to raise $30M to remove 30M pounds of plastic and trash from our ocean, rivers and beaches. They reached their goal on January 2nd, 2022, and they continue their work converting dollars raised into equivalent pounds of trash removed from our beaches, oceans and rivers. All donations to #TeamSeas are split equally between the coordinating organizations Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup.

The Octotokes community consists of ‘Tokers’, verified Octotokes Reef NFT holders, and our larger community of non-holders. Both groups are active on our Discord server (the ‘Octotokes Reef’) and Twitter. Our community is international, representing individuals from across 24+ nations. Our members span the spectrum between long-time crypto enthusiasts and newcomers to the space – all are equally welcomed into the Reef. In alignment with and supported by the Octotokes brand, many of our community members are passionate about the conservation of our ocean and earth.

This project would not exist without the incredible, diverse and inclusive Octotokes community. We believe that we rise together, and are grateful to those who join us on this journey. #TokersFam

Community Engagement

We believe that an organically-grown and engaged community is critical to the continued success of our NFT project. Our community is engaged largely through our Discord and across Twitter, and also on Instagram and TikTok. Our leadership team is committed to maintaining a progressive, safe place for community discourse and fun.

Discord

We are invested in the growth and thriving of our Discord server. Meaningful, supportive friendships have been formed among our members. It’s a really great community. Our international moderation team is active throughout the day. Facilitating a welcoming and engaged space is our goal.

Over time we’ve grown our server channels and offerings to support the needs and desires of our community members. We regularly hold activities like art competitions, poker tournaments, Twitter raids, and most recently introduced bot gaming as a part of our Discord participation coin earning system. Our Discord participation system allows active members to exchange coins earned through being active in the Discord for prizes, that include: Discord Nitro, ETH, NFTs from partner projects and our community, and individual donations to #TeamSeas.

As our community continues to grow, engagement via Discord will continue to play a leading role in our success. Continual improvement by the team supports a continually engaged community.

Twitter

Twitter is where the greater NFT community interacts. We’re proud of our supportive Twitter community, made up of more than 34k followers. We utilize Twitter to share project and community updates, reach new audiences through NFT giveaways, and interact with partner projects. We’ve recently begun participating in and hosting regular Twitter Spaces, as a way to share project updates, host AMA sessions with the team and with partner projects, chat about interesting topics, etc.

Opportunity

Compensation. The more Octotokes Reef NFTs you own the more opportunity you have to win in our mint milestone giveaway raffles. As Octotokes NFTs increase in popularity and floor price (including through your active participation!), the higher the value each NFT holds.
Long-term investment. In our local and global communities, in the health of our environment, in crypto and Web3, in Ethereum and other blockchains. While we make no promises – and always keeping in mind the volatile nature of crypto and NFT markets – our goal is for Octotokes NFTs to increase in value over the long-term through effective project facilitation. (Octotokes NFTs have no inherent monetary value)

Octotokes Roadmap

Roadmap 2.0 (revealed May 2022) provides a broad overview of our vision for the Octotokes project – from active mint through our vision for initiatives like a DAO creation, staking, and integration with the metaverse. The Octotokes roadmap supports the long-term, organic growth of an active community. It is the foundation from which we can expand and evolve.

Please note that the details outlined in our roadmap are subject to change. We believe that our best course of action is to remain flexible in our evolution as a project, with a commitment to keeping up with the progressive nature of the NFT space.

A brief Octotokes history: The Octotokes NFT project officially launched in January 2022 as a 2,000-piece collection on the Polygon blockchain. Our project was among the first using NFTs to support environmental conservation efforts. The project saw quick support among a passionate group of OG community members. By March 2022 community support for launching the Octotokes Reef collection to the Ethereum blockchain was strong enough to justify the project.

Listed below under the ‘Phase I and II’ heading are milestones reached prior to the April 2022 launch of the Ethereum collection.

Phase I and II – Complete – January-April 2022

Octotokes NFT’s launched on Polygon as a 2,000-piece collection.
Establishment of the Octotokes NFT community. Supported by the launch of our Discord server and our Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Website launch.
Donated Ξ0.045 to #TeamSeas using proceeds from Octotokes Polygon collection sales.
Artwork completed for Octotokes Reef Gen II – 5,000 unique NFTs featuring 93 high-quality, hand-drawn traits.
Roadmap 1.0 shared with the community – revealing initial mint milestone holder giveaways.

Phase III – What we’re focused on now

Donated Ξ0.29 to #TeamSeas using proceeds from Octotokes Reef collection sales.
Public Mint – Supported by each of the initiatives below, our main focus is getting to 100% mint.
Mint Milestone Giveaways – Each milestone will be marked with a #TeamSeas donation.
- 10% mint: 5 random Tokers each receive ETH. 10 random Tokers each receive a Ledger Nano hardware wallet (or $100 in ETH).
- 25% mint: 5 random Tokers each receive ETH. Rarity Sniper tools introduced.
- 40% mint: 10 random Tokers each receive ETH. 10 random Tokers win an NFT worth Ξ0.2.
- 70% mint: 5 random Tokers each receive ETH. Purchase of our metaverse parcel for our community. Partnership with Sea Life organization.
- 100% mint: 25 random Tokers receives ETH. Merch drop for Tokers.
Community Development – Community development is key. Our Discord community has seen continual active growth since January. Our growth is supported through community referrals, partnerships with like-minded projects, and social media outreach including Twitter and TikTok NFT giveaways.
Brand Awareness – We continue to leverage Twitter, Instagram and – most recently – TikTok as means to reach existing and new audiences.
Partnerships – We’ve been steadily increasing our exposure to and participation in collaborative giveaways with like-minded NFT projects. We’re always happy to join forces and support the mutual growth of like-minded communities.

Team Expansion – As the number of active members in our Discord grows, so does our Discord moderation team – who work together to continually grow the brand and community. We’re proud to provide the opportunity and space for driven individuals to gain valuable experience in growing a successful NFT project. We’re learning and growing together, and several of our moderators are actively working toward passing the Discord Moderator Exam.

Phase IV and beyond

Our focus on community growth will not slow down as we progress through roadmap phases. Instead, the community will become more instrumental in the forward progress of the project.

Roadmap 3.0 – The development of Roadmap 3.0 will be released once our collection is 100% minted. It will be an evolution of our current roadmap that prioritizes long-term sustainability – ensuring we can continue to support a rewarding Toker ecosystem into the future.
